We had quite the snow on Thanksgiving morning!
The pastures at the higher elevations of our ranch had enough snow to completely cover the grass. We brought the cows some extra snacks of alfalfa hay until the snow melted again.
Our ranch is typically just below the snow line, so this snow storm was very unusual for Mountain Home Ranch. We are very grateful for the water that will now slowly soak into our pastures as the snow melts.
We raise 100% grass-fed, free-range beef on our family ranch. Our cows have a happy, stress-free life as they roam free across more than 550 acres of rolling hills that have been part of the Bates Mountain Home Ranch since 1922. We serve families who want to buy healthy, humane beef in bulk. We sell beef by the whole, half or quarter and our cows determine the exact schedule. You can tell us what kinds of cuts you like (ground beef, steaks, fillets, brisket, stew, etc), and then you pick it up in Exeter, CA, fully processed, frozen, and individually packaged. Nestled in the foothills of California's Sierra Mountains, we serve the Bakersfield, Los Angeles, Porterville, and Tulare County regions.
We’re a small operation and have a wait list. We’re currently accepting reservations for August 2024 for whole/half shares.
